Paige Pierce What’s a matter with kids today is that we just can’t keep up with them. Throughout these past two semesters, 20-some Hobart & William Smith College students have been hatching and honing their own entrepreneurial dreams. Taking it far beyond the realm of dorm-room chatter, these individuals have ground out business plans, interviewed potential clients, and hammered out everything from marketing strategies to sources of supply.  All this in addition to full-course study loads.

On the Ides of March, sophomore businesswoman Ms. Paige Pierce, adroitly presented her business plan to the Hobart & William Smith Colleges Entrepreneurial Pitch Contest judges. She took home top honors along with the $10,000  winner’s check to fuel the launch of her fledgling Orchard Outfitters.

Like all good entrepreneurs, Paige began with a need:  college students in remote areas cannot get the clothes they want locally. Frankly Scarlet, rural townies just don’t dress like today’s collegiates.  Solution: the Orchard Outfitters’ truck brings the most avant togs you crave right to the parking lot behind your dormitory. Step inside and try on the latest brands – no internet guessing; no settling for ancient ginghams at the off-campus shops.

Paige has employed her own fashion passion, plus the family’s related expertise to cover all the details.
