Lisa Orloff

Lisa Orloff, in the aftermath of September 11, 2001, stepped forth and began organizing the great masses of sympathetic volunteers and transformed compassionate chaos into an effective accomplishing force. In fact, she did it so well, that she turned her back on a burgeoning fashion design career and launched the World Cares Center that trains and links a network of ready responders, capable of dealing with disasters around the globe. As Lisa puts it, when skies are blue, WCC’s Ready Responders train in volunteer management, physical safety for themselves and the victims, and building emotional resiliency for those who have endured the loss of everything they held dear. When skies darken under the Haitian Earthquake, Hurricane Irene, Superstorm Sandy or Maria, WCC arrives with a force of collaborative, coordinated hope. Lisa mastery of managing and organizing human energy holds lessons for us all. And her World Cares Center stands as proof that disaster can often bring out the best in us.
