Don Slaght

Don Slaght is the visionary example of Charles Darwin’s theory that survival goes to those most adaptable to their environment. Managing Principal of Hollston Realty Group in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, Don guided investors deftly through the risky but potentially profitable process of putting their cash behind Jersey shore commercial real estate ventures. Then, in October, 2012 Hurricane Sandy ripped through the Garden State, flooded all the coast, and wreaked havoc on Don’s inventory.

For most, it would have been time to pull in your horns or pull up stakes and consider another profession. But not Mr. Slaght. Don quickly responded to the community’s devastation by founding Northeast Home Elevation. Using his former construction skills, Don formed a crew that could re-set, restore, set on flood-proof stilts, or even heft up and carry to higher ground the hurricane ravaged structures. Today he continues to serve his community by getting both residents and their dwellings back on their feet.
